1 John 3:17
But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother have need, and shuts up his heart of compassion from him, how dwells the love of God in him?
How can we claim to be christian when we shut up our hearts to our brothers and sisters by never assisting each other ? We belong to the body and we never bother to learn who is sitting in the seat next to us ? We should know who is sitting in the seat next to us and invite them to our homes. If we would all do this together society we could transform the body , by His Grace.
The core of the faith is to have Christ richly dwell in us. From where He can give through us. Let our focus be the cross where we are assured that we are forever righteous and loved by Him. If we are grafted into the vine His Spirit will flow through us and enable us to be helpers to our brothers and sisters in times of need.
One of the fruits of the Spirit is kindness. Is it not kind to give your brother some bread when he’s down ? Is it not kind to fill his tank with fuel when he’s can’t get to town ?
Have we forgotten who’s we are ? We’ve been bought with a price. Are we not to shine the light of love to one another ? This love has been freely given to us at no cost at all. It isn’t performance based . You don’t have to merit His love. You’re just loved as you are. You’re mistakes are covered – past , present and future. He came to free you from a life of condemnation. So this isn’t an admonition so you can condemn yourself. It’s a call to change how you believe He sees you so that you can be empowered to empower others.
The Kingdom of heaven is waiting for us to embrace one another in true love and to deny the norms of society the hold it has on us. Being bankrupt is something we’ll all face sometime in our lives. If you’re kind when you’re up , then when the chips are down you’ll have a home to go to.
Let’s chance our focus. Let’s outsmart the devil.
“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on the rock.”
“And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations. ”
Here’s the lesson: Use your worldly resources to benefit others and make friends. Then, when your earthly possessions are gone, they will welcome you to an eternal home. – New Living Translation .
Prayer : Father , we pray for an awakening of the body of Christ to it’s intended purpose by and through the Holy Spirit. We pray that we’ll learn to access the talents and gifts you’ve placed in each one of us for the intended purpose of providing life blood to the body of Christ. We pray for the awakening of the corporate body to the dreams , visions and actions of what is possible because of what you have done for us through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior , Amen.
